"BUY LESS, CHOOSE BETTER, MAKE IT LAST"
Keep it Local
We are very proud of the having our product development, brand design, and manufacturing all kept within the UK. Having responsibly made clothing in the UK means that we are able to support local businesses, which is a passion for the team at Ghillied. We believe that you cannot beat the quality of a local supplier who invests their care, love and attention into what they produce.
Not only that, check out the monthly carbon footprint impact below of a small UK fashion brand such as Ghillied by keeping manufacturing in the UK. Imagine multiplying those numbers over a large brand that uses an international manufacturing operation!

Your Legging’s Journey
Sustainability in the fashion industry can mean a lot of different things to different people, and to some individuals and businesses, it can sadly mean very little. At Ghillied, we are very clear in what we mean by sustainability:
Designing quality products that are made to last
Using sustainable raw materials, with local manufacturing
Making full traceability our priority
Working towards zero waste
We are immensely proud of our supply chain… take a peek below at what goes into making a pair of Ghillied leggings.
More than 640,000 tonnes of fishing nets, ‘ghost nets’, and other commercial fishing tools are deposited in the oceans every year. This is the equivalent of 55,000 double decker busses. These nets are the largest pollutant in the ocean, and sadly the cause of death for thousands of animals each year.
As shocking as these numbers are, there is a way to literally ‘wear’ the solution! We use Econyl recycled nylon as the base raw material for Ghillied garments. This ultra-modern fabric is created from repurposing the nylon fibres found in fishing nets, industrial waste, and other plastic pollutants. These fibres are sorted, cleaned and purified to a level that they can be remanufactured.
We pride ourselves on garments which are comfortable, make you look great, and of course can survive the outdoors with a supportive fit.
Better yet, you can return your leggings to us to be recycled back into the start of the process!
Because our garments are all handmade, there is a tremendous amount of love and care which goes into each product. Unlike factory produced garments, each handmade item will be different from the next by a tiny margin. Because of this, we like to think each garment has it’s own personality to explore the world with… that’s why they are all named as they are – Nessie, Bhéara, and Devanha.
Ghillied garments are all manufactured in the UK as sustainably and ethically as possible. How?
- Technology is used to ensure the smallest amount of waste possible is taken from our fabric. Unavoidable offcuts are collected and repurposed into smaller products to ensure nothing goes to waste.
- All workers are paid a competitive and fair wage.
- Energy efficient lighting and machine motors are used to keep excess energy use to a minimum.
- Recycled paper is used when measuring and tweaking garments, as well as throughout the rest of the process.
Ghillied products have a low mileage footprint from the outset of product development. And when products are shipped to our customers, they are packaged with eco-friendly materials every time:
- Biodegradable, compostable and plastic free paper packaging. This is manufactured with a clean air policy, meaning no harmful air pollution is produced at the same time.
- Vegan friendly mailer bags which are made from natural resin. This means they are completely compostable.
You will also notice that our products do not come with swing tags. This is because we want to keep damaging waste to an absolute minimum. Every small choice adds up to make a big difference in choosing an ethical outdoors brand!
